Two weeks ago, I didn't post when I completed Stage 3 of the Ubuntu Bridge Cybersecurity Internship.
Not because it wasn't worth celebrating, but because I was already deep into the next challenge.
Over the past few weeks, I've worked through one of the most demanding learning experiences I've had.
From analysing cryptographic weaknesses and exploiting vulnerable systems to reconstructing attack chains, conducting digital forensics, writing incident response reports, preparing board-level risk registers, drafting regulatory breach notifications, and presenting governance recommendations.
it has been equal parts challenging, exhausting, and incredibly rewarding.
Today, I'm grateful to share that I have successfully completed the Stage 4 Capstone and have been awarded the title of Cyber Core Associate.
Receiving the media acknowledgements attached was a reminder that this journey has never been about collecting certificates and badges but learning to think critically, make defensible decisions, and understand cybersecurity from both the technical and business perspectives.
One part of the letter that I am keeping to heart reads:
"You did not just pass a stage. You carried a real investigation from confusion to a defensible, board-ready conclusion, and you did it with integrity."
I'm thankful to the Ubuntu Bridge Initiative team, reviewers, my classmates, and everyone learning alongside me.
Every stage has stretched my thinking and shown me how much there is still to learn.
Now it's time to take a short breath before beginning Phase Two.
I'm excited for what comes next and for the opportunity to continue growing particularly in Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC), the path I've chosen to pursue.
