On Sunday evening my boss said "let me get you something"
I was thinking what could that be but I was given a 📚
I was very much surprised because he could have said “let me gift you something but which ever way, I was ready to dive in.
At this point in my life, I don't go straight to the chapters of a book anymore because I constantly feel the need to know the thoughts of the author as an author myself.
In this and coming piece of content, we would explore the deeper meaning of the words in the book titled ZERO TO ONE BY PETER THEIL.
According to the introduction, the book Zero To One is a piece aimed at helping startups see the essence of creating rather than remodeling what's being done by the big fish in various industries.
Peter Thiel the author started by saying "the next Larry Page, Mark Zuckerberg and Bill Gates shouldn't build the same thing these men built because If you are copying these guys, you aren’t learning from them.
I would agree with him because, from my experience, the things you do in life that bring about absolute achievement & fulfilment isn't those you've copied but those you have discovered.
I agree with him that it’s easier to copy a model than to make something new because being a creator brings about relevance from things we might not have deemed Relevant.
Who else has been able to create another universe? No one because it was created to be relevant but would always remain fresh and strange.
When you begin to invest in the difficult task of creating things, the things you create from your discoveries would be fresh and strange.
When as humans you don't create, you leave the world with a promise that the future is bleak no matter;
how big of a deal,
how much profit,
how much success, and
how much relevance...
…you've gathered with your current level of output.
I love to tell people that "success has an expiry date both when in use and when not in use" so we as humans must break loose from the norm of fine-tuning old stuff because the novelty will always wear off.
Are you ready to break loose from today’s “best practices” that are leading to dead ends?
Then you need to follow me carefully in the journey through Zero to One where Peter was bold enough to claim that the best paths are new and untried.
As a Nigerian in her early 20's, I have been raised to believe in miracles.
Miracle for the average Nigerian is the;
unseen that makes the seen work,
unknown that makes the known change,
invisible that makes the visible worthy.
And technology has been one miracle for the human race as it made us the only species capable of doing more with less.
Yesterday, I wrote about my thoughts on the Apple Smartwatch in line with Digital Health Technology creating the avenue to up the game of our innate capabilities to a higher level.
And as the human race grows, Peter Thiel dares us to create new technologies as it is our only way of rewriting the plan of the world.
Aren't you tired of repeating what has been done before?
Aren't you scared of living in the shadows of another in your creativity?
From this point of view, Peter is trying to make it known that becoming an entrepreneur isn’t the gateway to success or easy life because, in the end, the rinse and repeat process we all know is no formula for success.
But wait, aren't you lucky to be reading this great book from my lens?
You see, as a creative and a creator, I have tried so many principles of rinse and repeat that does nothing but left me drained and tired but the worst-case scenario would be forgetting to work and walk in my newness and uniqueness.
This newness and uniqueness would be easier found in unexpected places when you start to think of becoming relevant from the principle that asks where is the future starting?
You need to pick the miracles of technology & creativity from a place that answers the question above so you don’t get left out.
Peter Theil has done the world a beautiful good by sharing his views on the principles of harnessing the miracles that comes with being human and meeting technology.
In the coming days of my reading journey, I will be doing my part by not forgetting to write my on how I will be applying these principles and in my journey to staying relevant.
If you don’t mind journeying from Zero to One with myself and Peter Theil,
Nice piece ma'am.
